Gems of North India – 15Days
Exotic Rajasthan, the ‘Land of Maharajas’ is blessed with awe-inspiring monuments to a fierce warrior past. The magnificent forts of Jodphur and Jaipur bear testament to the battles that once raged across this desert land, whilst the romantic palaces in Udaipur, Fatehpur Sikri and the world famous Taj Mahal offer a glimpse of a softer side to North India’s rich history. For many Varanasi is the city that lingers longest in the memory; located on the River Ganges it is one of the most sacred in India. This full and rewarding trip gives a comprehensive introduction to the gems of India.
Day 01 Arrive Delhi
Arrive New Delhi, India’s Capital, where you are greeted with a traditional Indian welcome on arrival at the airport and escorted to the hotel for overnight.
Day 02 Delhi
After a leisurely breakfast we take a guided tour of Old & New Delhi. The sights include visit to Qutab Minar, Humayun Tomb, Presidential building, Jama Masjid amongst others.
Day 03 Delhi – Varanasi
We have a morning flight to Varanasi and visit Sarnath just outside the city in the afternoon. We return in time for the prayer ceremony on the ghats on Holy River Ganges at sunset.
Day 04 Varanasi – Khajuraho
The early morning boat ride on Holy River Ganges provides an unmatched view of the ghats and the daily morning ceremonies being performed by the priests followed by a walking tour of the city. Your flight to Khajuraho is around noon, giving you time for a guided tour of the temples at Khajuraho.
Day 05 Khajuraho – Orcha – Jhansi – Agra
Drive to Jhansi enroute visit the temples at Orcha. In time board the express train for Agra in the evening.
Day 06 Agra
We spend our entire day for the guided tour of Agra. Visit the Taj Mahal by Tongas (Horse Carriage), Agra Fort both World Heritage Monuments. Stop by at Itmad-u-Daulah, tomb of father of Queen Noor Jehan. You can choose to return to the Taj to see the setting sun touch it with gold.
Day 07 Agra – Jaipur
Leave Agra after breakfast, just 40Kms from Agra we stop to visit the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned due to scarcity of water. We reach Jaipur late afternoon giving you time to explore the city on your own.
Day 08 Jaipur
Morning is a good time to climb up to Amber Fort on an Elephant back (subject to availability). We spend the afternoon in the city to visit City Palace, Observatory, Hawa Mahal and walk through the busy market streets of Jaipur.
Day 09 Jaipur – Jodhpur
Drive to Jodhpur in the morning. The evening is at your disposal to explore the majestic city.
Day 10 Jodhpur
The day is dedicated to visit the formidable Mehrangarh fort, Jaswant Thada – the Royal Cenotaphs. On our must to do list is the walking tour in the old spice market and the Clock Tower area.
Day 11 Jodhpur – Udaipur
We leave for Udaipur in the morning, enroute visit the exquisitely carved marble temples at Ranakpur. The evening is at leisure.
Day 12 Udaipur
The morning is dedicated to visit City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Crystal gallery, one of the largest collections of crystals in the world. The evening boat ride on the Lake Pichola is an experience not to be missed.
Day 13 Udaipur – Mumbai
You have the morning at leisure. Your flight to Mumbai is in the evening.
Day 14 Mumbai
Spend the morning for an excursion to Elephanta Caves, a World Heritage Site. In the afternoon take a guided tour of the city to visit Prince of Wales museum, Crawford Market, Hanging Gardens and Dhobi Ghat.
Day 15 Leave Mumbai.
In time you will be escorted to the airport for your onward flight.
