Situated in untouched part of Indian Himalaya, the land of lamas, Ladakh is home to ancient monateries. Travel to Ladakh for breath-taking views of barren mountains on one side; small pastures of agricultural fields and snow capped peaks on the other. It is also a trekkers paradise, where your skills are put to an ultimate test. With the strong prevalence of Buddhism, the monasteries or Gompas is a pivotal force in Ladakhi life.
The best time to visit Ladakh is in summer months from Mid May to end September. Ladakh is in the rain shadow of the monsoon, when the days are sunny and bright. There are so many diverse things on offer such as exploring the villages with a local headman, visiting monasteries for morning prayers, learning to cook Ladakhi food, meeting a Buddhist monk, rafting up the Indus or just sitting back and letting Ladakh soak into your senses.
