PUSHKAR FAIR - PUSHKAR
|
The Pushkar fair held at the town of pushkar, 11 kms. From Ajmer is one of the largest Camel fair in India and probably the only one of its kind in the world. Thousands of people from rural India come to attend this 12 days cultural, trade and religious fair. Trading of camel and cattle is at its peak during the first half of the fair. In the latter part, thousands of pilgrims and devotees take a holy dip in the pushkar lake on the full moon day to worship Lord Brahma, the creator in the Hindu mythology. Pushkar has the only temple the world dedicated to Lord Brahma.
The small town of pushkar becomes one big market and one can buy handicrafts from different parts of Rajasthan… necklaces of glass beads from Nagaur, pottery and textiles from Jodhpur, bangles , brassware’s, etc |
