DESERT FESTIVAL - JAISALMER
|
Once a year during winter months, January-February, the desert city of Jaisalmer, in Rajasthan comes alive for three days during the Desert Festival. A few days before the festival, people in colorful and ethnic dresses from the nearby villages start moving towards this golden town to showcase their traditional folk culture. The fair has camel races, camel tattoo shows, camel mounted bands and puppeteers. The Jaisalmer fort provides an ethereal backdrop to the festival
Throughout the day, the visitors can come face to face with the local people and be a part of the traditional procession from the fort on the first day of the festival. The evenings are meant for the travelers to enjoy music and dance shows. |
